Winery Experience
Yacca Paddock is a boutique vineyard producing premium grapes and fine bottled wine which is in limited release and exclusively available on this site.
A cool climate vineyard planted in the year 2000. From the inception the focus was on designing a vineyard that would grow premium quality grapes
Scott Hicks and Kerry Heysen’s life in the film industry demands passion and a standard of excellence, which they have brought to their role as viticulturists. They share a philosophy and practice of environmental responsibility in their pursuit to grow the best grape for the perfect wine.
Winemaker Ben Riggs performed the black arts of his alchemy on our handpicked vintage. The success of ‘Shine’ showed us how films can be a way of making dreams come true. What better proof than Yacca Paddock Vineyards!

For filmmaker and winemaker alike, casting is an elusive blend of chemistry and balance. Venerable Shiraz presents itself its well-loved performance of fruit sweetness and soft middle-palate, here magnificently highlighted by the brooding intensity and structure of our new discovery Tannat.

Fragrant but intense and powerful; predominantly dark fruits; surprisingly silky palate; very impressive debut; 80% shiraz/20% tannat. Quality cork. James Halliday (score 92)

This is an excellent red, and further evidence of the Hills' success with unusual grape varieties. Tannat (20%) gives this Shiraz more grip on the midpalate than most other regional Shirazes have. Good acids, plum and blackberry fruit, and black pepper nuances make this classy wine a winner, Wine Enthusiast (USA).
